North Patchogue is a charming hamlet and a census designated place (CDP) in the splendid Town of Brookhaven of Suffolk County in Long Island, New York. At the time of the 2010 census, the hamlet had a population of approximately 7,246 residents. North Patchogue has a total area of 2.0 miles with 2.575% being water. The two major thoroughfares in the community are Sunrise Highway (NY-27) which runs east to west and North Ocean Avenue which runs North to south. The community is bordered by West Woodside Avenue on the northern boundary, East Roe on the southern boundary, Old Medford Avenue (NY-112) on the eastern boundary and Nicholls Road falling just outside the western boundary.

Canaan Lake is located in North Patchogue and access is from Ohls Street at the north end of the lake. Brookhaven is home to Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Laboratory which both employ local residents.
