Islip is one of the ten towns comprising Suffolk County, on Long Island, New York. At the time of the 2010 census, Islip had a population of 335,543 residents. The town of Islip is bordered by Babylon to the west, Brookhaven to the east, Smithtown to the north, and the Atlantic ocean to the south. After WWI the town was renamed Islip Terrace. The children of Islip Terrace attend East Islip School District which has two elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. The high school is known for its very successful athletic programs.
