Lake Success is part of the esteemed Great Neck area, in the town of North Hempstead, Nassau County, Long Island, New York. Village lore has it that the town name comes from the Native American name for the local kettle lake, “Sucut”. After WWI, the plant which had produced wartime products became the temporary headquarters of the United Nations from 1947 to 1952. When the headquarters for the United Nations was completed in New York City, Lockheed Martin purchased what had been the temporary headquarters. The facility is now a multi-tenant office park. In addition to a rich history, Lake Success also boasts a wonderful location just 16 miles from downtown center Manhattan. The village is comprised of 1,196 acres, approximately 2 square miles, most of it being land but 43 acres of it being water.
