Commack is a thriving hamlet which lies in both the town of Huntington and Smithtown, in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. At the time of the 2010 census, Commack had an approximate population of 36,124 residents. Commack has a total area of twelve square miles and is in the 11725 zip code. Originally, Native Americans lived here, on the south shore of Long Island between Bayport and Copiague. The Commack Methodist Church, built in 1789 is the oldest Methodist Church in the state of New York. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in the Suffolk Y Jewish Community Center in Commack is the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. The children of Commack attend the Commack Union Free School District which serves residents of Commack as well as portions of East Northport, Smithtown, and Dix Hills. There are approximately 7,800 students who attend four primary schools, two intermediate schools, one middle school and a high school.
